Top Performing Agent

Chris Mitchell, North Texas REALTOR with The Kirk McDonald Group at Compass

I grew up in Everman, Texas, and I’ve lived in North Texas my entire life. Today, I live in Northlake with my family and help buyers and sellers across the north Fort Worth area make smart, confident real estate decisions.

My path into real estate started in 2003 when I bought my first home. I had no idea where to start, what to expect, or what questions I should even be asking. My budget was $70,000, and I needed an agent who was willing to take the time to explain the process and help me feel comfortable.

Thankfully, I found one.

He helped me find the right house, negotiated repairs, walked me through each step, and made sure I understood what was happening. I still own that house today, and I’ve never forgotten how much that experience meant to me. After closing, I decided I wanted to help people the same way he helped me. I started studying, passed my real estate licensing exam, and became licensed in 2004.

I sold real estate part time while working nights, then in 2007 I joined Cartus Relocation, where I helped USAA and Navy Federal members purchase homes by connecting them with agents in their destination markets. Over time, I worked my way up to Operations Manager, developing tools and processes that supported a team of more than 150 employees and helped our daily operations run more effectively.

After seven years with Cartus, a former VP recruited me to RealPage, a software company that developed property management technology for single-family and multifamily property managers. I worked as a Manager III supporting teams in Carrollton and Manila, Philippines. My teams handled issue tickets for Propertyware, RealPage’s single-family property management software.

Those years in customer service, relocation, operations, and real estate technology shaped the way I work with clients today. I learned how to listen, how to identify what people are really concerned about, and how to walk them through complicated decisions without adding pressure.

When my role at RealPage was eventually dissolved, I decided to finish my degree and enrolled at the University of North Texas, completing my bachelor’s degree through online classes. During that same period, I got back into real estate in 2016 and joined Kirk McDonald, REALTORS. In 2019, our group became The Kirk McDonald Group at Compass.

Today, I work with a wide range of buyers and sellers, including relocation clients, move-up buyers, downsizers, and sellers throughout the north Fort Worth area. I especially enjoy helping clients in the $400,000 to $2 million range, but the real fit is less about the price point and more about the relationship.Having lived in Northlake, Keller, Haltom City, and other parts of North Texas, I understand how local growth, schools, traffic, new construction, taxes, and neighborhood changes can impact a real estate decision. My goal is to help clients see the full picture, not just the house in front of them.

I believe the best client relationships are built with honest advice, realistic expectations, and clear communication. I’m not interested in pushing someone into a quick decision. I’d rather explain the options, talk through the pros and cons, and help people make a decision they feel good about long after closing.

Most of my business comes from repeat clients and referrals, and that is something I’m very proud of. To me, that means people trusted me enough not only to work with me once, but to come back or send someone they care about my way.

Outside of real estate, I’m married to a gifted and talented teacher in Northwest ISD, where our youngest daughter attends Byron Nelson High School and plays soccer. She also plays club soccer with Dallas Surf, so a lot of our family time is spent on the soccer field. I never knew I liked the game so much until I became a soccer dad.

My oldest daughter teaches art in Birdville ISD and runs a successful laser cutting business. My son recently made the decision to join the Navy and will be leaving for boot camp in August 2026.

Real estate has been part of my life for more than two decades, but the reason I do it has stayed pretty simple. I remember what it felt like to need guidance, and I know how much the right agent can change the experience. If you’re thinking about buying or selling in North Texas, I’d be glad to talk through your options, answer your questions, and help you figure out the right next step.
